This mixture finally dried in layers, like slate, but much more difficult. Slate can be in sheets and plates can again into thin sheets.

Slate has been used for a range of applications over the years. A common use is as a natural form of roof shingles. Individual slate shingles are carved by hand of a master table, and sold to roofers and contractors. The tiles are off-line on a couple layers of tar paper and sealants.
